Course of Study (PG):

M.D.(Hom.) Course:

The Post Graduation course in the field of Homoeopathy is the highest step in this science. The Objective of this course is to produce excellent professional thinkers, practitioners, researchers and teachers in Homoeopathy with special emphasis in the subject of their choice.

Branches of study:

In the following branches the Post Graduate degree course are available.

1. M.D.(Hom.) (Doctor of Medicine in Homoeopathy) – Organon of Medicine & Homoeopathic Philosophy.

2. M.D.(Hom.) (Doctor of Medicine in Homoeopathy) – Materia Medica including applied aspects. .

3. M.D.(Hom.) (Doctor of Medicine in Homoeopathy) – Repertory.

4. M.D.(Hom.) (Doctor of Medicine in Homoeopathy) – Medicine

5. M.D.(Hom.) (Doctor of Medicine in Homoeopathy) – Pediatrics

Eligibility for Admission:

Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine & Surgery (BHMS) or equivalent qualification in Homoeopathy included in the Second Schedule to the Homoeopathy Central Council of Homoeopathy Act 1973, after undergoing a course of study of not less then five years and six months duration including one year compulsory internship.

Course of study:

The Doctor of medicine in Homoeopathy degree Course of study of 3 years spread over 2 parts M.D.(Hom) part-I, M.D.(Hom), Part-II.

M.D.(Hom) Part-I, 1 ½ Year.

M.D.(Hom) Part-II, 1 ½ Year.

During this period every candidate has to undergo one year house job in the attached Hospital and the study of following general subjects.

Besides subjects of specialty every candidate has to appear in examination of three (subsidiary).

Dissertation:

Every candidate pursuing M.D.(Hom) course is required to carry out work on a selected research project under the guidance of a recognized postgraduate teacher. The result of such work shall be submitted in the form of a dissertation.

The dissertation is aimed to train a postgraduate student in research methods and techniques. It includes identification of the problem formulation of hypothesis, review of literature getting acquainted with recent advances, designing of a research study, collection of data, critical analysis and comparison of results and drawing conclusions.

Four copies of dissertation thus prepared shall be submitted to the registrar (evaluation) six months before final examination on or before the dated notified by the university.

Attendance and Monitoring Progress of studies:

A candidate pursuing M.D.(Hom) course shall study in the concerned department of the institute for the entire period as a full time student.

Every student shall attend symposis, Seminars, conferences, journal review meetings and lecture during each year as prescribed by the department/college/university and not absent himself/herself without valid reasons.

Every candidate shall maintain a work diary and record of his/her participation in the training programmes conducted by the department such as journal reviews, seminars etc.

Candidate who has put, in minimum of 80% of attendance in the theory & practical assignments separately and shows satisfactory progress shall be permitted to appear for university examination.

Scheme of Examination:

The examination for the PG Degree shall consist of:

  • Written paper
  • Practical & Viva voce examination
  • Dissertation

The examination shall be conducted in two parts namely

  • M.D.(Hom) Part-I
  • M.D.(Hom) Part-II

1. Part – I M.D.(Hom) Examination – Full marks for each subject and minimum number of marks required to pass shall be as follows.

Criteria for pass:

For declaration of pass in an examination a candidate shall secure a minimum of 50% of marks in Theory, Viva-voce and Practical separately.
